Desert Blooms and Best Friends

June 20, 2017

Hello lovely,

I hope the turn of weather has you excited about summer and the return of sun kissed skin. I know my complexion could benefit from a glow!

Today I am sharing a small collaborative photoshoot with some local artists and creatives, hoping to captive both the arid feel of the Tri-Cities, but also incorporate the ever-popular floral prints, combined with the cold-shoulder trend.

Seriously if you haven’t seen the cold shoulder/off-the-shoulder trend anywhere, you might be living under a rock! It can be a hard trend to pull off, but I think any body type can do it masterfully when done correctly. (Interested in finding your body shape, or what I call a GEM shape? Email me now for a free style discovery session to learn your unique shape and how to accentuate it!)

The biggest thing to remember when showing shoulder is proportions. If you are a broad-shouldered or busty gal, look for a minimal take on the trend: maybe a flirty slit in the sleeve of a shoulder or boat neck (barely there off the shoulder).

If you are petite up top, try something with a little more dramatic shoulder show like a cut-out on the shoulders, or a daring off-the-shoulder blouse. It will help bring balance to your shape.

I was able to style my beautiful model, and one of my besties, Charlotte Shores for this shoot. Charlotte is a fellow creative and entrepreneur, owner of Salt City Epicurean, personal chef services in the Salt Lake area.

Can you believe we found this dress at the Loft for her? It was the very last one too! I love that the dainty flutter sleeves helped bring the focus up to her beautiful face and eyes, while the cold-shoulder straps allowed her to still feel like the dress would stay up!

The wonderful Sarah of sparkleswithsarah.com graciously provided the coral jewelry set for Charlotte, and baubles on my wrist.

A huge thank you goes out to the creatives that helped collaborate on this shoot! Anais Valdez Makeup Artistry made Charlotte feel and look like a million bucks, while Julie Semenyuk of Keene Edge Salon styled Charlotte’s long locks. Of course I can’t leave out the vision behind the camera, the one and only Alex Lasota. She has an amazing eye for placement, lighting, and capturing captivating photos.
