Good Wednesday morning, lovely!

As promised in my last blog post, I am super excited to share photos of my first session shooting with the sweet and talented Alex Lasota (www.alexlasota.com).

This was my first time being the "model" for a photo shoot since my days as Miss Columbia Basin, and a younger me.  I had such a good time being in front of the camera again, especially when working with someone as relaxed as Alex.  She made me feel like a movie star being captured by the paparazzi!

As I created outfits for the shoot, I really wanted to engulf my true personal style.  If you watched my last video "finding your personal style," I talked about finding the pieces you feel most comfortable in.  Of course there are days when I am more casual, ones where all I want to wear is a plaid shirt and boyfriend jeans, but if I had the option I would wear something girly and vintage-inspired every day!

Where did this love of an era forgotten come from?  Well, my childhood was a bit different than most kids. I grew up surrounded by a culture that loved all things antique - i.e. hot rods, street dances, poodle skirts, and my favorite TV channel, Turner Classic Movies.  While most kids were off on the weekends attending sporting events or camping, my family could be found at a car show somewhere throughout the state, complete with oldies music, cat eye sunglasses, and our retro 1950s 7up ice chest.  It would make sense then that on a Friday night, my favorite treat was getting to watch I dream of Jeanie, laughing at her antics to win the heart of Major Nelson .  If I could have, I would have jumped into the screen to join Annette Funicello and Franki Avalon surfing the beach of southern California (well, actually in front of a movie screen that looked like the Pacific Ocean).

Fast forward 20 years and here I am, a girl that still loves a simpler time in our history.  To capture this vintage vibe, my first outfit was one that could have been worn by an extra on Beach Blanket Bingo.  I started with high-waisted scalloped edge shorts, and topped it with a gingham crop top.  For a bright pop of color, I added coral accessories, everything from my sunglasses to a statement necklace, and sparkly bracelet.  A BIG thank you goes to Sarah Pounds for providing the lovely Chloe and Isabel baubles! Shop her website here!  Wedged sandals were a must to elongate my shorty legs, and what else screams vintage-inspired-classic like a Kate Spade bag?

I hope you enjoy the pics and feel inspired to find your own true style.  Find the outfit details and shopable links below the gallery!

I am here to help you find your personal style, so make sure you get my Essential Wardrobe list (go to the home page and enter your email to get it delivered straight to your inbox) as this will get you started on your journey.

Have a great rest of the week!
